Website Design Fun: GLAM Lash and Beauty
You know that feeling when you get a project and your vision and the client's vision mesh and you just get to have fun and run with it?
Best. Feeling. Ever.
I combined her black, blush, and gold color scheme with elegant, dark florals and a hint of an art deco-vibe to create a site perfect for a boutique beauty bar!
I admit it, I can't help myself. I keep on developing new side gigs. I write articles, do graphic design, and I am even working on advertising and promo videos for a client! I love learning new things, and over the past year, I have been able to play with and work on several sites. I absolutely love working on Squarespace sites, and I am happy to be adding that skill to my services!
This month I got to work with Jennifer from GLAM Lash and Beauty on a site for her business. Jennifer has a fantastic beauty bar in San Diego that offers facials, makeup, waxing and sugaring, and organic spray tanning. The really cool part? She is an expert in the art of lash extensions, and her work is gorgeous. I wish I lived close enough to be one of her clients!
I thought I would share a peek at my process:
This is one of the options I came up with for the site. It was my personal favorite, so I am glad she loved it, too! We ended up simplifying the design and using more muted colors, but we kept the Art Deco vibe, the main color scheme, the dark floral photos, and the fonts.
I did a LOT of font searching. I wanted something that gave off a bit of the art deco vibe she wanted, but I didn't want a really obvious display font. I ended up going with these two:
I must admit, the fantastic images from photographer Annie Spratt were what really got my creativity flowing. It helps that peonies are my favorite flowers ever! I love that her images are so feminine yet a bit mysterious and really sophisticated. That was exactly what I was aiming for with this site. I used the gold lines around the images to keep the deco feeling going.
